/ Beethoven Festspielhaus

The competition entry for Bonn’s Beethovenhalle re-contextualizes the concert hall in Germany’s former capital within modern settings. The architecture of the concert complex is centered around two halls with seating capacities of 1,500 and 500 people, each decorated with regenerated leather with optimal appearance and acoustic properties. Located between the banks of the Rhine and a public park, the complex’s solid volume and dark stone facade express a mysterious and massive quality. Incorporating a free play area with a view to the Rhine, the new elements merge with the existing forms in a masterful composition.
