Located within Milan’s Porta Nuova district—the first urban neighbourhood in the world to be awarded both LEED and WELL for Community certifications—I Portali complex is composed of two towers standing at 64 and 98 metres respectively; the development occupies a pivotal site along Via Melchiorre Gioia, acting as a threshold between the Biblioteca degli Alberi park and the wider urban regeneration of Northern Milan. The buildings stand in a new system of pedestrian and green areas and extend the public realm, reinforcing the connectivity with Milan’s mobility infrastructure.

The two office buildings are defined by a distinctive lattice facade, a synthesis of structure and technology. Alternating opaque and transparent modules create a rhythmic grid, filtering light into the interiors and reinforcing the formal identity of the complex. Over 2,000 photovoltaic panels, incorporating around 235,000 solar cells, are integrated into the facade system. Together, they generate more than 850,000 kWh of clean energy per year.
